Our Mission
At Top Gun Academy Foundation 501c3, we provide scholarships to deserving high school and college athletes. Our goal is to support their academic and athletic pursuits, ensuring they have the resources needed to succeed.
Stephen T Mather Memorial Scholarship
The Stephen T Mather Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a deserving high school senior in the Louisville, KY area. This scholarship focuses on high school tennis players who are moving forward with competing on a college tennis team.
The Stephen T Mather Scholarship has awarded 20 college scholarships valued at over $75,000 during 15 years. Scholarships will be a one year basis with a minimum of $5,000.
Applications are accepted from November 1st – December 1st, 2025 on our website.
Scholarship will be chosen by our committee December 15th, 2025.
Stephen Mather was a four-year letter winner at Trinity High School who won the individual State Championship in 1986 as a freshman and advanced to the State finals all four years of his career.
Stephen continued his tennis career at University of Kentucky where he set a record for wins as a freshman and helped lead the Wildcats to the SEC team championship in 1992. Stephen continued his tennis career as a teaching professional and one of the most accomplished adult tennis players in Kentucky. Stephen was inducted in to the Kentucky Tennis Hall of Fame in 1997. Stephen passed away December 10th, 2005.
David Compton Memorial Scholarship
The Top Gun Academy Foundation 501c3 is proud to announce the first annual David Compton Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving high school senior tennis player to be applied for their future academic ambitions. Scholarships will be a one year basis with a minimum of $5,000
Applications are accepted from November 1st – December 1st, 2025 on our website.
Scholarship will be chosen by our committee December 15th, 2025.
David was one of the most influential tennis people in Kentucky over the past 40 years. As a player, David won 16 Southern Senior titles, 8 Boat Club Invitationals, and a USTA League National Championship. David’s greatest honor was being inducted into the Kentucky Tennis Hall of Fame in 2013. He was also a coach and teaching pro of teams, adults and kids. David was extremely proud of what he and friends accomplished by bringing the Kentucky Adult Closed Tournament back to prominence in the area.
Corey Taylor Sports Performance Training Grant
The Corey Taylor Sports Performance Grant provides financial support to student-athletes in any sport who demonstrate dedication, hard work, and a commitment to excellence both on and off the field.
This grant is designed to assist athletes with expenses related to training, equipment, competition, and personal development.
Recipients are chosen based on their athletic ability, perseverance, leadership, and character.
The goal of the grant is to empower athletes to reach their full potential, enhance their performance, and continue pursuing their athletic and academic goals.
Grants up to $5,000 are awarded twice per year (Februrary & October).
Student athletes can apply throughout the year.
Top Gun Academy Foundation Athletic Grants
The Top Gun Academy Athletic Grant provides financial assistance to student-athletes who demonstrate both athletic talent and academic commitment.
This grant is designed to help cover athletic training & travel costs and is available to athletes from all sports.
Recipients are selected based on their athletic performance, leadership qualities, sportsmanship, and potential to contribute to their team and community.
The goal of our grants is to support the development of well-rounded athletes who excel both in their sport and in the classroom, promoting continued growth, discipline, and achievement.
Grants are awarded three times per year (January, April, and September). Student athletes can apply throughout the year.
